Gavi
Gavi is a town in the province of Alessandria on the right side of the river Lemme.
The old town is dominated by the Fort, built incorporating the existing castle and adding six impregnable bastions.
Domain of the Marchesi di Gavi, allies of Barbarossa, which apparently took refuge here after the Battle of Legnano, soon entered in the sights of Genoa for its strategic position in the Ligurian hinterland, on major roads towards the “pianura padana” .
